Leap Posts Loss as Broadband Subs Flee

Leap Wireless International Inc. (Nasdaq: LEAP) reported a loss of $65.2 million for the second quarter as the company added voice customers but lost substantially more broadband customers.

Leap added 29,000 net new voice customers, but lost 132,000 net broadband subs in the quarter.

The prepaid CDMA carrier lost 85 cents a share on revenues of $760.5 million. A year earlier it reported a loss of $18.2 million or 24 cents a share on revenues of $633.5 million.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected a loss of 53 cents a share on $780 million in revenue.

Shares of Leap were down 53 cents (5.28%) to $9.51 each in after-market trading Wednesday.
