Bharti Delays 3G Launch

7:15 AM -- India's largest mobile operator Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Mumbai: BHARTIARTL) is to delay the launch of its 3G services, according to mydigitalfc.

The operator had expected to launch its 3G services by the end of December, but that deadline has now been pushed into 2011. (See Bharti Gets a Makeover Before 3G Launch.)

Reliance Communications Ltd. and Tata Teleservices Ltd. have launched their 3G services, but the government, citing security issues, has restricted certain services that can't currently be monitored in real time. That restriction is just one of a number of factors Bharti Airtel has considered in deciding to delay its 3G launch, according to the report.
