Xirrus launches 802.11n Upgrade Guarantee Program
December 13, 2006
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. -- Xirrus, Inc., the makers of the patented high performance, long range Wi-Fi Array, today announced the launch of the Xirrus 802.11n Upgrade Guarantee Program. The modularity and pre-engineered capacity of the Wi-Fi Array allows Xirrus to offer the industry’s first program that allows customers to upgrade from 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi Arrays to 802.11a/b/g/n. Additional information on the 802.11n Upgrade Guarantee Program and the upcoming IEEE 802.11n specification can be found at www.xirrus.com/11n.
“Many companies promise their products are 802.11n ready or pre-architected for ‘n’, but the harsh reality is the typical controller plus thin access point deployment will require a complete forklift upgrade in order to handle the performance increase of 802.11n”, said Dirk Gates, CEO of Xirrus. “Customers who sign up for the Xirrus 802.11n Upgrade Guarantee Program will receive a factory upgrade to 802.11n radios and associated new software for an incremental cost over their initial investment.”
The long anticipated update to the popular Wi-Fi standards 802.11a/b/g, 802.11n is expected to bring more than 4 times the increase in throughput along with improved range. In advance of the standard being ratified, similar increases in performance and range are available today with Xirrus’ dense 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi Array that uses high-gain directional antennas and multiple radios.
