Vitesse appoints Martyn Humphries to lead Ethernet business

CAMARILLO, Calif. -- Vitesse Semiconductor Corp.(NASDAQ:VTSS) today announced that Martyn Humphries, a 15-year communication and Ethernet solution management veteran, has joined the company as general manager and vice president of the Ethernet Products Division. Mr. Humphries has immediate responsibility for the worldwide business strategy and new market development of the industry's most comprehensive and integrated Gigabit Ethernet silicon offering. These products are designed to enable the convergence of voice, video, and data service in equipment deployed throughout corporate, carrier, small enterprise and home networks. He reports directly to Dr. Lou Tomasetta, president and CEO.

Mr. Humphries brings to Vitesse extensive experience in managing and growing multi-million dollar business segments in both the US and Asian markets. Most recently, he was vice president of marketing for NetLogic Microsystems where he developed the company's business strategies and partnerships for a new category of products used in high-end enterprise and carrier Ethernet system designs. Prior to NetLogic, Martyn Humphries was senior director of Broadcom Corporation's Small Medium Business (SMB) Switching Line. During his tenure, he managed marketing, engineering and the P&L for the business unit and had responsibility for product line development and revenue generation for small and medium business, entry-level enterprise, consumer-based embedded CPU wireless gateways, and security products. He successfully achieved a ten-fold revenue growth for the Ethernet Switch line of business in less than three years.
Additionally, Mr. Humphries has held other engineering, marketing, and management positions throughout his career. Starting as a design engineer with British Aerospace, he then moved into sales and marketing with Analog Devices and Xicor. He has also served as a general manager and director of technical marketing for MEMEC. Mr. Humphries holds a bachelor's of science degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Manchester, England.
