Software enables operators to centrally manage femtocell software device licenses and customize capabilities for mass deployments
February 11, 2010
SWINDON, UK -- Ubiquisys, the leading provider of 3G femtocells, today announced that it has implemented Flexera Software's software licensing management solution for its Femto-Engine femtocell software. The system allows operators to customise the capabilities of Ubiquisys-powered femtocells to suit the needs of different customer groups.
Flexera Software's system allows for reliable customisation on a massive scale, allocating and activating licenses as required to add functionality or adjust offer bundles all independent of the underlying femtocell hardware. Building on the capabilities of the Ubiquisys Femto Engine software femtocell, the system enables manufacturers of "Engine-ready" femtocells to produce fewer hardware variants, increasing mass-scale efficiencies and driving down unit and logistical costs.
"Since day one, we have focused considerable energies on allowing operators to centrally manage the capabilities of our femtocells," said Will Franks, CTO and founder of Ubiquisys. "Flexera Software's software licensing solution is a first for the femtocell industry and further illustrates how Ubiquisys is enabling the mass-adoption of femtocells by reducing cost and friction in the supply chain,"
"Femtocells are sophisticated, software-dominated devices that are being deployed in huge numbers. Flexera Software is delighted to be helping Ubiquisys change the game with the strategic use of software applications, enabling operator innovation in pricing, packaging, customer interaction and operations," said Randy Littleson, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Flexera Software.
