Cloud services firm injects new blood into its marketing unit

SAN FRANCISCO -- Twilio (http://www.twilio.com), the market leader in cloud communications, today announced key new hires in the US and UK, and new speakers for TwilioCon. Lynda Smith, whose start date was April 23rd, joins James Parton as Twilio’s newest employees. Lynda and James will be joining the company as Chief Marketing Officer and Director of Marketing UK & Europe, respectively. The San Francisco startup is also revealing the latest batch of speakers for the second annual TwilioCon, to be held in San Francisco October 16-18, 2012.
Smith comes to Twilio from Jive, where she was Senior Vice President of Marketing. In her new role as CMO, she is responsible for Twilio’s marketing strategy worldwide. Prior to Jive, she held a number of leadership positions at Genpact, Nuance, Genesys and Lockheed Martin. She holds a degree from Simpson College and an MBA from Wharton Business School.
Parton comes to Twilio from Telefonica, where he was Head of Developer Marketing and most recently was responsible for the launch and evangelization of BlueVia. Beginning in June, he will be responsible for advancing Twilio’s penetration into the European market. Prior to Telefonica, Parton held a number of executive positions at O2 UK. He holds a postgraduate diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
