STOCKHOLM -- Transmode, a leading provider of optical networking solutions, today announced the availability of tunable XFP pluggable optics modules for both the TM-Series and TS-Series product families enabling greater flexibility and lower spare part holding costs for customers.
As the new 80-channel tunable DWDM 10G XFP modules have recently become available from component suppliers, Transmode has rapidly integrated these into both the TM-Series and TS-Series product families. These modules allow greater flexibility in planning, ordering, deployment and later network reconfiguration due to the ability of the modules to tune to any of the 80 DWDM wavelengths supported by the TM-Series or the 24 DWDM wavelengths supported by the TS-Series.
Additionally, these modules allow operators that hold inventory or spare part pools to keep a smaller number of modules as they no longer need to hold a large number of wavelength specific plug-in modules, therefore reducing cost.
Mohamad Ferej, Transmode's Vice President R&D commented, "This rapid integration of tunable XFP technology into our portfolio reflects the good relationships that we have built up with our supplier partners over the years and Transmode's ability to respond quickly once a component technology reaches the right level of maturity and quality."
"Transmode has been a long term supporter of pluggable optics and pushed hard for the initial Multi Source Agreement (MSA) standards to remove the need for wavelength specific versions of each type of line card. Our strong relationship with our suppliers has given us a head start over the competition in this important area of pluggable optics integration."
