Time Warner Selects Ericsson Modems
Will deploy the Ericsson PipeRider HM200c cable modem to its customers nationwide
January 10, 2001
STOCKHOLM -- Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERICY) today announced that Time Warner Cable has selected Ericsson as one of their top suppliers for cable modems in 2001. Time Warner Cable will deploy the Ericsson PipeRider(TM) HM200c cable modem to their customers nationwide. The Ericsson PipeRider HM200c cable modem utilizes the vast potential of cable television for handling Internet and multimedia data. The HM200c is unique in featuring PipeLock(TM) technology, which enables consumers to suspend communications simply at the press of a button. This ensures total security for the user when the computer is not in use, and is not found on any other cable modem currently on the market. The HM200c also offers USB connectivity to the PC, in addition to standard Ethernet connections.
"We are encouraged that our major order has come from one of the US's largest cable providers," said Bjorn Krylander, Vice President and General Manager, Ericsson Home Communications. "Time Warner recognizes that Ericsson has the vision for the future of home networking and has made a major commitment to bring the PipeRider cable modem to families throughout the country."
