STOCKHOLM -- TeliaSonera Sweden has been selected as the subcontractor for mobile, fixed and IP telephony services to the City of Stockholm by TietoEnator, which has been appointed turnkey contractor for the procurement project. The estimated value of the order is SEK 700 million over the potential contract period, which is approximately 7.5 years, and covers the provision of services for all companies and administrative units of the City of Stockholm. TeliaSonera Sweden will be the sole provider of telephony services.

The new agreement covers the provision of fixed, mobile or IP telephony connections. The solution allows users to use the same telephone, regardless of the connection being used. The telephony solution also gives all of the City's companies and administrative units access to a common telecom service, which will simplify contacts with residents in the municipality. TeliaSonera Sweden will also provide the switchboard function, call centre platform and mobile data services.

"We know that there is a strong demand for modern and efficient telecom and IT solutions in the municipal sector, especially to develop contacts with the residents of municipalities," says Erik Heilborn, head of the enterprise market at TeliaSonera Sweden. "With this new agreement, the City of Stockholm is taking a further step to develop its communications."

The City of Stockholm appointed TietoEnator as the turnkey contractor for this order, for which TeliaSonera Sweden will act as subcontractor to TietoEnator. Other companies that have bid on this project have 10 days to express their views on the decision. The potential contract period will begin January 1, 2007 and run 3.5 years, with the option to extend the period another two plus two years.
