CANNES, France -- OZ(TM) today announced that it has been selected by TCL & Alcatel Mobiles Phones to deliver an "always on" mobile Instant Messaging & Presence Services (IMPS) experience on TCL & Alcatel Mobiles Phones handsets. The OZ Mobile IMPS client chosen by TCL & Alcatel Mobiles Phones is designed to meet the usability requirements of the primary operators in Europe, as well as the requirements from the most widely used IM communities such as AOL(R) Instant Messenger(TM) (AIM(R)) and MSN Messenger services.

"As an innovative player of the IP convergence, TCL & Alcatel Mobile Phones offers consumers a mobile IM client that allows them to stay in touch with friends and family. With a glance on their mobile phones, the end-users can be instantly aware if their buddies are signed-on or not," said Alain Lejeune, VP Operations of TCL & Alcatel Mobiles Phones. "We found that the OZ Mobile IMPS Client is the perfect solution to meet the stringent demands of mobile operators and to deliver to the end-user a unique and compelling mobile messaging experience."

Bringing more than basic chatting to the mobile, OZ and TCL & Alcatel Mobiles Phones will propose advanced features such as the link with the phonebook, the presence in one glance and the "always on" capability in Alcatel branded products in 2005. Furthermore, embedding Presence enabled applications such as IMPS is a step toward IMS (IP multimedia subsystem).

"As mobile messaging continues to gain momentum in Europe and Asia, we are proud to be a partner of TCL & Alcatel Mobiles Phones, working together to deliver to the consumers in these regions an unique and simple mobile IM experience," said Skuli Mogensen, CEO of OZ. "With world-class customers in North America already deploying the OZ solution, today's announcement further exemplifies our commitment to establishing a worldwide leadership position for mobile IM."
