OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- A new three-year agreement between Sprint (NYSE: FON - News, PCS - News) and the Countrywide Financial Corporation (NYSE: CFC - News) has expanded a 15-year relationship and will bring new voice and data services to one of the nation's premier diversified financial service providers.

Through the new, multimillion-dollar contract extension, Sprint will deliver voice services to Countrywide locations around the country and toll- free voice connectivity to various Countrywide call centers. Sprint will also deliver frame relay and Internet Protocol (IP) data services to new branch locations and other Countrywide offices.

Countrywide became a Sprint voice customer in 1987. In October 2001, Countrywide selected Sprint as its primary data services provider following a rigorous series of network performance, service and reliability tests.

"Sprint has shown the ability to grow as we grow, and its data network now serves more than 900 different Countrywide locations," said Mark Brubaker, senior vice president, IT/Enterprise Network Services, Countrywide Financial Corporation. "In the beginning, Sprint was a secondary provider of voice, but the more we worked together, the more we learned to understand each other and the larger our relationship grew. This new agreement builds upon existing business and is truly the result of our long-term, highly productive and very efficient relationship. As we do more business with Sprint and consolidate our communications infrastructure, we are able to save money and deliver better operational performance over time."

Countrywide currently uses Sprint for a range of other voice and data services in addition to those introduced through this announcement. The financial services industry is a key vertical segment for Sprint and beneficiary of a customized portfolio of communications solutions geared to its particular needs.

"Building on 15 years of work with Countrywide, this new agreement clearly illustrates the value of positive, long-term relationships and the importance of delivering a great customer experience," said Kevin Kunkel, vice president, Sprint Business - West Area. "Our close relationship enables Sprint to deliver solutions that support Countrywide's highly successful and growing business. Sprint is extremely proud of its longstanding relationship with Countrywide and is focused on exceeding Countrywide's expectations day in and day out."
