TEL AVIV -- RAD Data Communications, a major international manufacturer of access equipment for data communications and telecommunications applications, has announced that it has joined forces with Alvarion, a leading provider of Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) solutions, to provide an end-to-end compressed voice and data solution that is especially designed for enterprises that require connectivity between office networks located in different areas in a city. The joint solution pairs Alvarion's BreezeLINK™, a broadband wireless solution, with RAD’s Kilomux-2100™ data, voice, fax and LAN multiplexer. BreezeLINK connects the buildings with a "wireless leased line" while the Kilomux-2100 integrates the voice and data networks. This simple yet robust cost-effective solution provides voice and data transmission at a range of up to 40 km (25 miles) over a 2.4 GHz wireless connection, which is license-free frequency in most countries. It ensures minimal delay and protocol transparency, so applications such as voice are assured the bandwidth and short delay they require.“When using such a link, the Kilomux-2100 connects the office LAN on both sides and allows both sites to share one PBX,” notes Tal Gilad, Kilomux Product Line Manager at RAD Data Communications. The Kilomux uses time-division multiplexing (TDM) to ensure minimal delay and protocol transparency. It connects to leased line, ISDN, Fractional E1/T1, fiber and IP, and ensures voice, fax, and data modem transmission through support of standard PCM (64 kbps) and ADPCM (16-32 kbps) voice, as well as high quality compressed voice (4.8-16 kbps).RAD Data Communications Ltd.Alvarion Ltd.
