April 5, 2011
MONTREAL -- Bluestreak Technology Inc., a proven international leader in delivering software presentation solutions on multi-screen wireless and wired embedded devices, announced today that the company was selected by Orange to deliver the new Orange cinema series on demand service to mobile devices and tablets. Consumers who subscribe to the popular Orange cinema series service can now download movies to their mobile devices and watch them offline up to 30 days after it has been broadcasted, at their convenience.
Bluestreak Technology assembled a complete video platform using state-of-the-art technology and teaming up with industry leading partners:
Labgency: Labgency created the Orange cinema series framework and application. The company also provided development services and the servers used to host the application.
VisualOn: VisualOn provided the media player used for playback, viewing, listening, and organizing the videos and broadcasts on mobile devices. The VisualOn Media Player offered unprecedented performance, reliability, and security across all targeted devices.
Authentec: AuthenTec delivered the client-side digital rights management (DRM) software enabling the protection, distribution and monetization of this service. AuthenTec is the market leader and the first to offer a commercial-grade downloadable PlayReady client for mobile devices, including Android and Apple devices, that is approved by major studios. PlayReady technology offers content access and protection for the OCS service.
The result was the creation of a single unified entertainment viewing experience for the consumer that is easily accessible, regardless of location or the availability of a network connection.
Olivier Dhotel, Director Mobile TV - Group Strategic Marketing at Orange said, "Watching movies and series on-demand requires an outstanding viewing experience not only at home but also on-the-go. We took up this challenge with the new offline feature we are introducing in our Orange cinema series application which perfectly complements the live 3G streaming watching experience. Our customers can take away their movies and series to watch them anytime anywhere, and stop and resume playback at their convenience. To accomplish this, we carefully selected our partners, like Bluestreak Technology, with whom we worked hand in hand, to offer deep experience in delivering multimedia services that are optimized for each unique device type."
"We have had the privilege of working with Orange over the past five years on a variety of projects and the new Orange cinema series offering continues to showcase their commitment to innovation," said Dominique Jodoin, Bluestreak Technology CEO and President. "This new project provides rich entertainment programming to consumers whenever and wherever they want it. Bluestreak Technology was able to work with an exceptional group of partner companies that displayed the professionalism, expertise, and sense of urgency necessary to provide a high quality product in unprecedented timeframes. We value the trust that Orange placed in us to lead this project and we look forward to collaborating further with the team as we expand the capabilities of this service in the future."
