ANAHEIM, Calif. -- OFC 2002 -- Optium Corporation, a leading developer of 10 Gb/s optical transponders, today announces the introduction of their Manta Ray family of Long Reach transponders. Truly a breed apart, these transponders are LiNbO3-based modules designed for Long Reach (LR) and Ultra-Long Reach (ULR) applications of greater than 80 km. The Manta Ray product family is compatible with the 300 pin MSA and is available in a 3.5 x 4.5 x 0.53 inch package size. As part of the standard product offering an I2C interface and microprocessor control and monitoring functions are available. These modules are capable of multi-rate operation (SONET, 10 Gb/s Ethernet, and SONET with FEC). The units incorporate the latest LASER tunable technology thereby providing a tuning range of 8 wave-locked 50 GHz channels, today.
