Marc Levante joins Openwave Systems from Vodafone

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWV), the leading provider of open software products and services for the communications industry, today announced the appointment of Marc Levante as chief technology officer (CTO), effective February 1, 2006. Levante, a communications industry veteran with nearly twenty years of experience, joins Openwave’s management team from Vodafone Group plc, the world's leading mobile telecommunications company. In his role as Openwave CTO, Levante will be a key member of the executive team, driving innovation in all aspects of Openwave’s industry-leading software solutions and services.
