Openet Telecom embeds TimesTen into its real-time charging, network-edge rating and advanced mediation solutions
February 28, 2005
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- TimesTen, Inc., a provider of real-time infrastructure software, today announced that Openet Telecom, a world leader in delivering innovative and proven Active OSS solutions, has embedded TimesTen® into the Openet FusionWorks™ Framework. The FusionWorks Framework supports Openet’s entire product line of Real-time Charging, Network-edge Rating and Advanced Mediation solutions designed for network operators. The addition of TimesTen to Openet’s FusionWorks Framework allows operators to more cost-effectively cope with extremely large volumes of events, while still enabling real-time applications – a crucial factor in retaining data revenue.
Openet’s products address a growing requirement for real-time performance, particularly in advanced data networks. The increasing importance of data revenue is prompting service providers and operators to carefully consider the scalability and flexibility associated with the mediation, charging, and rating of billing events. Through its open architecture and modular design, the FusionWorks Framework serves as the scalable foundation for Openet’s real-time charging, network-edge rating and advanced mediation solutions.
TimesTen’s real-time infrastructure software delivers the high speed data management needs of the FusionWorks product suite, enhancing functionality for the real-time rating and charging requirements of today’s – and tomorrow’s – IP-based data services. TimesTen was chosen for its high throughput, low-latency, and its standards-based interfaces; a combination that enables Openet to provide a robust, high-speed and flexible foundation for delivering the next generation of IP-based data products and services.
“Openet’s real-time charging, network-edge rating and advanced mediation solutions enable rapid service creation and launch, allowing variable charging structures and payment methods – key areas where network operators increasingly demand real-time performance and flexibility,” said Gerard Curtin, Openet’s VP of Engineering. “We’ve architected and built our products on a common framework designed from the ground up for real time, carrier-class performance to ensure we meet these demands. TimesTen’s infrastructure software is key to our real-time approach and embeds seamlessly with the FusionWorks architecture,” added Curtin.
