Open Group CTO and VP Mike Lambert is named the company's first Fellow, will take on a 'roving ambassador' role
May 1, 2003
SAN FRANCISCO and READING, U.K. -- The Open Group announced at its quarterly Member Meeting in Austin, TX, that Chief Technical Officer and Vice President Mike Lambert has been appointed the first Fellow of The Open Group.
In this newly created role, Lambert will become a roving ambassador for The Open Group, promoting the company's vision of Boundaryless Information Flow around the world. Lambert has served as Chief Technology Officer with The Open Group, and it's predecessor X/Open Company Limited, since the latter's formation in 1987.
Allen Brown, President & CEO of The Open Group, said "Mike Lambert has played a pivotal role in the standards world. He was amongst the small group of visionaries who saw the need for standards that all vendors would support, but was not controlled by any one of them. That idea, Open Systems, so commonly accepted now, was revolutionary in the mid-80s."
