January 8, 2004
MECLEAN, Va. -- Acorn Packet Solutions and net.com (NYSE: NWK) today announced an agreement under which net.com will resell Acorn Packet Solutions' CTP-1004, which enables the connection ofnet.com's Promina multiservice platforms across IP networks. net.com'scustomers continue to derive the benefits of Promina's voice, data and video services while connecting them across IP networks using the CTP-1004.
The CTP-1004 is compatible with existing Promina WAN modules, including those with DS-1, RS-449 and EIA530 standard communications interfaces. The combined features of the Promina platform and the CTP-1004 address critical network requirements of the U. S. In addition to connecting directly to Promina platforms, the CTP-1004 can also be deployed on the cipher text side of line encryptors connected to Promina WAN modules, resulting in an encrypted IP data flow.
"We are very pleased this relationship has been established after extensive testing of the CTP-1004 with the Promina platform," said James Lawson, President of Acorn Packet Solutions. "Promina customers will benefit from our experience with reliable circuit transport across IP networks, and many of our future product developments will focus on providing additional value to Promina networks."
"Our partnership with Acorn Packet Solutions is another example of net.com's commitment to Federal-focused solutions that build on the Promina features on which our customers rely," said John Winters, Vice President of Federal Sales at net.com.
