SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that MASERGY, a provider of QoS-based, customer-controlled network services, has deployed the M-series in its converged global IP/MPLS network. By creating an advanced network that redefines its customers’ network performance, MASERGY has built a strong foundation for an Infranet – a network that combines the ubiquitous connectivity of the Internet with the assured performance and security of a private network. Ultimately, service providers are expected to connect Infranets together to create a single, global meta-network capable of carrying all communications.

MASERGY’s IP/MPLS network infrastructure, which is based on Juniper Networks products, enables the delivery of high-quality, converged network services, such as Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNS, VoIP and real-time video, with reliable application performance. This foundation Infranet enables MASERGY to offer the highest levels of service to its customers with end-to-end, application-level Quality of Service (QoS) and network management capabilities. Enterprise customers can change bandwidth on demand, add or drop services or check on billing and service changes at any time, lowering network costs and improving the predictability of business applications.

“Delivering end-to-end Quality of Service gives us a competitive advantage, and the reliability enabled by Juniper Networks gives us the confidence to offer and stand behind our service level agreements,” said Barry D. Nalls, president and CEO at MASERGY. “Our Juniper Networks-based infrastructure aligns well with the Infranet vision, which advances beyond the Internet to a network with security, reliability and the quality necessary for business-critical applications.”

Since the Juniper Networks infrastructure is streamlined and easy to manage, a small operations staff can serve hundreds of large, multinational customers with advanced provisioning services.

“The fact that JUNOS software can run on all types of chassis is very important to us. We don’t need multiple skill sets in operations to support hardware that uses multiple operations systems. With JUNOS, I can implement and administer our network quickly with a lean staff,” Nalls added.

“By building an IP infrastructure from the ground up with intelligence, QoS and security, MASERGY has built the foundation for an Infranet, which is already minimizing costs and delivering powerful performance metrics,” said Christine Heckart, vice president of marketing, Juniper Networks. “The next step in this evolution will be a global Infranet that extends across multiple networks by creating data collection mechanisms and business processes to fuel inter-carrier cooperation and future innovative services and revenue generation.”
