CHATSWORTH, Calif. -- Luminent, Inc. (Nasdaq: LMNE) today announced the presence of an emerging platform for the Metro/Access markets, based on Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing (CWDM) technology, with the availability of their award winning CWDM thin film filters. Luminent’s line of CWDM products — including 4 and 8-channel modules that support IEEE 10Gb/s Ethernet (10GE) standards — provide optical networking equipment manufacturers a cost effective means to develop the systems to support high bandwidth equipment build-outs in enterprise access and metropolitan area networks (MAN).

"The CWDM platform offers significant component cost savings to system vendors developing optical networking solutions for the Metro Access and Metro Core markets," explains Janpu Hou, Vice President of Business Development at Luminent’s Taiwan-based Passive Component Division -- recently awarded a ninth "Very Well Made In Taiwan" award for the new CWDM thin film filters.
