Celcom Malaysia implements prepaid solution from LogicaCMG
March 22, 2005
LONDON -- LogicaCMG announced today that Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad, the premier mobile telecommunications company in Malaysia, has gone live with a new LogicaCMG prepaid solution giving 3 million subscribers access to the full range of Next Generation messaging services.
At the heart of the solution is LogicaCMG's Intelligent Network Platform(INP) for voice and its Pre-Delivery Service Agent (PSA) that provides Celcom PrePaid subscribers with access to General Packet Radio Services(GPRS) and Multimedia Message Services (MMS). LogicaCMG has also deployed the Dialog Control and Charging Platform (D2CP) from Volubill to support pre-delivery charging of data and content services. The LogicaCMG solution simplifies the user experience and involves a single monetary balance for all transactions and services used.
LogicaCMG's solution also enables Celcom to introduce a wider range of competitive marketing incentives, including easy top-up options via SMS and promotional tariff plans.
"Malaysia's prepaid market is set to boom over the next few years, therefore we need to replace our previous system with a scalable solution that will let us cater for a rapidly growing customer base. Having worked with LogicaCMG in other areas of our business, their INP is the logical choice for Celcom. This will enhance our customer service and continue to delight our customers", said Zubir A. Rasid, Senior Vice President of Customer Management Group and Mobile Data, Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad.
Prepaid subscribers represent 86 per cent of the total 12.6 million mobile subscribers in Malaysia. Prepaid subscriptions have been growing steadily since its introduction in 1998 and, since December 2003, another 1.2 million prepaid subscribers were added.
In December 2004, Celcom introduced Xpax, a new and innovative prepaid package that transitioned all of Celcom's existing prepaid customers under one single, unified network system. Xpax offers customers the flexibility and freedom to choose how the system can work for them and enables Celcom to sharpen deliverables for even better customer service.
Boudewijn Pesch, vice president of global telecoms at LogicaCMG in Asia, said: "As the prepaid market continues to be a major growth sector in Asia, LogicaCMG is working with mobile operators such as Celcom to deploy feature-rich platforms that support subscriber base growth and create new revenue streams from existing customers. Our reputation for successful implementation of flexible and scalable messaging platforms based on having supplied messaging and billing solutions to 300 of the world's top operators in over 130 countries, makes us the ideal partner for mobile operators to grow their mobile messaging services."
