Dr. Paul Zorabedian, CTO and VP of advanced product development; Dr. Subrata Dey, VP of engineering and new product introduction

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- K2 Optronics, Inc., a developer of optical components and modules, announces the appointments of Dr. Paul Zorabedian as chief technical officer and vice president of advanced product development and Dr. Subrata Dey as vice president of engineering and new product introduction. Dr. Paul Zorabedian comes to K2 Optronics from Maple Optical Systems, a developer of metro optical network technology. Paul served as vice president of optical systems and was chief architect of all-optical cross connects. Prior to Maple Optical Systems, Dr. Zorabedian was director of advanced laser development for New Focus Incorporated, a manufacturer of fiber-optic products. Paul has over 12 years of direct experience in the development of tunable wavelength external cavity laser products for fiber optic communications networks, both for optical transmission and lightwave test & measurement. He received his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Stanford University, has published 12 papers in scientific and engineering journals, and is attributed to 16 US and European patents. Dr. Subrata Dey joins from New Focus Incorporated where he served as vice president of telecom engineering. While at New Focus Subrata lead a team that developed high power, wide tuning range external cavity laser diodes. He also managed laser reliability qualification and worked closely with long haul transport and metro customers to qualify the performance of these lasers within specific network architectures. Prior to New Focus, he served as vice president of advanced technology for the Read-Rite Corporation, a manufacturer of magnetic recording heads. Dr. Dey received his Ph.D. in Solid State Physics from Ruhr University in Germany, has authored over 30 publications on magnetics, and is attributed to 3 US device patents.
