MILPITAS, Calif. -- JDSU, the leading enabler of broadband and optical innovation, marks a major milestone today with the shipment of its 10,000th ROADM. ROADMs, or reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexers, are one of the key network elements that make it possible for operators to add capacity and flexibility to their network in order to deliver on-demand services to consumers. Video on-demand, IPTV, online gaming and other rich media services are just a few of the applications enabled by ROADMs.

“To put this in perspective, it represents the majority of overall ROADM deployment and the significant role ROADMs play in helping service providers build agile optical networks,” said Daryl Inniss, vice president, Communications Components, for Ovum-RHK. “ROADMs are able to address the rapidly growing need for optical networking modules that enable greater service delivery and network flexibility.”
