DALLAS -- Hurricane Electric, a leading Internet Backbone and Colocation Provider, announced today that it has successfully deployed Transmode's TS-1100 C/DWDM optical transport solution to significantly expand its network in California.

The new Transmode network comprises 10G and 2.5G WDM links carrying Gigabit Ethernet traffic between 4 major POPs, giving Hurricane Electric significant additional capacity, greater network throughput and greater network resilience for its broad customer base.

Hurricane Electric provides technical web hosting including dedicated servers and colocation. The company is experiencing tremendous growth across the whole of its network and has recently expanded internationally with facilities in London and Amsterdam and added additional ports to a number of US POPs.

"At Hurricane Electric we differentiate ourselves with leading technical hosting and quality of service," said Mike Leber, Hurricane Electric's President. "Transmode's solution offers us the ability to manage our current network more efficiently and to grow our network more economically in the future, thereby enabling us to strengthen these differentiators."
