ANNABA, Algeria -- Recently, Algeria Telecom and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. jointly held a ceremony to announce the commencement of its Huawei-constructed CDMA network’s commercialization with 80,000 lines in Annaba, east of Algeria. According to the announcement, the CDMA network which was entirely deployed by Huawei will provide the public with new telecom services.
Eight leaders in senior positions from Algeria Telecom including the minister of Algeria Telecommunications &Post Department, flew in from Algeria’s capital to Annaba to attend the ceremony. They expressed their satisfaction with Huawei’s project management and fixed/mobile integrated networking services.
The CDMA project began in July 2004 and now covers the whole area of Northeast of Algeria. In this project, the CDMA system uses Huawei’s advanced 3G platform and can be easily upgraded to CDMA 1XEV-DO/DV guaranteeing the development of services Algeria Telecom provides in future. Accessing the existing PSTN network in V5.2 mode, the system offers up to 153.6kbps high speed data service, and the existing Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) services will significantly improve the data service provision capability of the Algeria Telecom network.
