GAITHERSBURG, Md. -- BroadSoft, Inc, a leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced that Hipcom, a hosted IP telephony wholesaler, has selected BroadWorks® Business Trunking to complement its hosted telephony offerings for small and medium enterprises through its distributor, ISP and reseller channels.

The award-winning BroadWorks Business Trunking application allows service providers to deliver low-cost trunks to an enterprise's premises-based phone systems - such as Key Telephone Systems (KTS) or Private Branch Exchanges (PBXs) - while leveraging the inherent advantages of newer IP PBXs. Business Trunking is built on BroadSoft's BroadWorks Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) application server suite and delivers SIPconnect-compliant connectivity to a full range of Integrated Access Devices and IP PBXs.

Hipcom specialises in the provision of high-quality hosted IP telephony solutions, created specifically for the UK reseller channel and the UK SME marketplace. For a UK reseller, the CAPEX of initially deploying their own system can be prohibitively high. Hipcom's white label provision, which now includes Business Trunking, enables resellers to quickly, reliably and cost-effectively launch complete IP services for their customers. The addition of Business Trunking adds business continuity features for disaster recovery and the extension of enhanced PBX features to mobile devices.

"SMEs have very individual requirements for their telephony deployments," said Lee Crowe, Hipcom's commercial director. "Some businesses are ready to migrate from a traditional telephony service to hosted VoIP, while others might want to keep their existing desk phones, yet attain the benefits of IP. Now through our carrier-grade white label solutions, resellers can provide a BroadWorks-based fully hosted voice solution or a trunking solution that allows SMEs to keep their premises-based equipment."
