BALTIMORE -- SafeNet, Inc., a global leader in information security, today announced that GENBAND, a market-leading developer of next-generation IP infrastructure solutions, has selected SafeNet’s carrier-grade IPsec solution, QuickSec IPsec, to provide standards-compliant authentication, confidentiality, and data integrity for GENBAND’s new Femtocell Gateway.
The Femtocell Gateway (FGW) manages the broadband IP communications for the secure backhaul of cellular voice and data communications into the core network. The FGW serves the role of mobile service provider edge gateway to ensure that client devices are able to securely access the mobile operator core network services through the femtocell access points.
With the proper security measures, femtocell networks are protected against third-party attacks, eavesdropping, service disruption, denial-of-service attacks staging, and billing fraud. The deployment of femtocell solutions enables service providers to successfully address coverage and bandwidth requirements, without the extraordinary cost associated with macro cell deployment.
“SafeNet has a strong reputation for delivering high quality, easy-to-integrate IPsec security solutions to the mobile and networking industries,” said Natasha Tamaskar, VP product marketing, GENBAND. “GENBAND has been building SafeNet’s carrier-grade security into our best-in-class IP infrastructure solutions for years. QuickSec strengthens our S-series Security Gateways and G9 Packet Access Gateway, which combine to form part of a femtocell gateway (Radio Access Network Gateway) within a complete femtocell solution.”
