SAN MATEO, Calif. -- Gemini Mobile Technologies (TM), a leading developer of wireless software infrastructure, today announced that it has raised $20 million from Goldman Sachs. Goldman Sachs joins Gemini's current investors, three of Japan's marquee financial institutions, Mitsubishi-UFJ, Mizuho, and Tokyo Marine.

Gemini Mobile recently introduced eXplo(TM), the world's first 3D community platform for mobile phones that allows millions of users to chat, photo share and shop in a rich graphical world within their phones. Gemini's eXplo is the foundation of a new 3D interface from Softbank Japan, named S! Town, which has already garnered over 100,000 subscribers in the last four months.

Gemini also offers a multimedia messaging solution, HyperScale (R) Messaging Center, which has been adopted by multiple carriers in Japan; SmarTone in Hong Kong; Far EasTone in Taiwan; Telecom Italia in Italy; Nextel International in South America; and Sferia in Poland to provide seamless services to their user. Gemini has a global OEM relationship with Alcatel-Lucent and a partnership with Ericsson China.

"Since our founding, we have experienced strong momentum in the wireless marketplace with operations in the United States, Japan and China," said Scott Driggers, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Gemini Mobile Technologies. "With financing, we will accelerate our pace of product development and enable us to expand and service new customers around the world."
