STOCKHOLM -- The Basque operator Euskaltel has selected Ericsson's Packet Backbone Network (PBN) solution, incorporating Juniper Networks M40e routing platforms, to meet the needs of rapid growth in data traffic. The new deployment will enable Euskaltel to improve the performance and quality of the data transmission service it offers to its customers.

Ericsson´s PBN provides pre-tested and verified multi-service IP networking solutions designed to empower operators' mission-critical services. Transcending the limitations of best-effort communications and flat-rate billing, PBN enables operators to deploy profitable solutions that target enterprise, broadband and full-scale telephony in a converged IP network.

As part of the solution, Ericsson will provide Juniper Networks M40e routing platforms. The M40e is a proven platform already deployed in many service provider networks across the world. It is designed and built to deliver the scale, intelligence and dependability that operators demand. The contract includes supply, installation and integration, which began in June.

Secure, reliable and highly scalable - PBN allows operators to rapidly deliver the new and legacy services they need in order to secure and expand their business while also reducing costs. PBN is built with best-in-class network equipment from Ericsson together with leading edge vendors such as Juniper Network and others.
