Ericsson introduces mobile softswitch to reduce costs and move to all-IP networks

CANNES, France -- Ericsson's mobile softswitch solution allows operators to reduce their core network operating expenditures up to 50 percent through efficient design, infrastructure and transmission. Together with IMS it powers the evolution toward an all-IP network.
Typically, operators spend 60 percent of their income on operating expenses. Savings in operating expenditures enable operators to grow traffic and maintain margins even as voice tariffs are steadily decreasing.
Ericsson mobile softswitch solution enables significant savings through the efficient and flexible layered architecture design. Layered architecture supports separation and centralization of the sophisticated equipment responsible for call control and network intelligence, enabling a reduction in the number and size of main core network sites. Likewise, the switching equipment is simplified in operation and design and can be distributed to the edges of the network for maximum transmission efficiency. State-of- the- art infrastructure minimizes space and power requirements.
