June 8, 2006
LEAGUE CITY, Texas -- Management at Eagle Broadband, Inc (AMEX: EAG), a national provider of broadband, Internet protocol (IP) and communications technology and services, today announced the addition of the MediaPro IP3000HD, an intermediate offering in their line of IPTV set-top box products now featuring high-definition capability.
Equipped with high-definition MPEG-4 (H.264) in addition to MPEG-2 technology, the smaller, sleeker product offers a more affordable option to Eagle Broadband's MediaPro IP5000HD. The new product extends the high-definition capabilities previously available only in the high-end IP5000HD to the entry-level set-top box model.
"We developed the IP3000HD to meet the specific needs and growing demand from broadband providers and hospitality operators for a very cost-effective, fully featured, low-end IP set-top box for the hospitality and residential IPTV markets," said David Micek, president and CEO of Eagle Broadband. "I anticipate the IP3000HD will find extensive use in Eagle Broadband's IPTV roll-outs, and a number of hospitality integrators are also currently evaluating the IP3000HD. We expect to be delivering this product in volume this quarter."
The IP3000HD is a cost-effective, high-definition set-top box with a compact footprint and quiet, fan-less design that delivers exceptional streaming video quality, supporting both NTSC and PAL broadcast standards. It uses an advanced system-on-chip architecture with an integrated graphics accelerator to provide advanced functionality in a low cost platform. The architecture has dedicated multimedia engines executing in parallel to deliver the highest performance 2D, 3D graphics and video capabilities with motion compensation for video playback. Proprietary hardware security features facilitate advanced content protection while supporting a range of leading middleware platforms, rapid development of customized applications and the fastest path to deployment.
