NEW YORK -- Dada S.p.A. (MTAX of the Italian Stock Exchange: DA.MI), through its wholly owned New York-based subsidiary Dada Mobile Inc., a leader in the U.S. mobile entertainment and community services market, completed the acquisition of Upoc Networks Inc., a pioneer in the Internet and mobile value added services market.
Dada Mobile is the first social networking community and entertainment provider to offer complementary product suites spanning the mobile and online worlds. The acquisition allows Dada Mobile to enhance its rapidly growing U.S. presence by leveraging Upoc's significant user base. Upoc's expanding social community will complement Dada's dating, community and mobile entertainment suites.
Massimiliano Pellegrini, CEO of Dada Mobile, believes the collaboration between the two companies will lead to increased market share and new innovations. "As an early leader in the mobile community market, Upoc brings a depth of technology assets, industry knowledge, and U.S. market expertise to the Dada Mobile brand. The acquisition of Upoc will fortify and expand Dada Mobile's relationships with wireless carriers."
Founded in 1999, Upoc provisions consumer entertainment and community services, accessible via SMS, WAP, voice, MMS, BREW, and the Web via its own brand, upoc.com. Upoc is also active in online marketing solutions for leading American media groups and carriers. With its unmatched mobile networking pedigree, Upoc Networks provides critical insight into an evolving industry.
"This acquisition allows Upoc subscribers to access Dada Mobile's suite of innovative products and services," said David Friedensohn, CEO of Upoc Networks. "We are excited to be part of Dada Mobile, and have the strength of this powerful global mobile brand behind us. The combined entities will lead the way in mobile value added services for years to come."
