JAKARTA, Indonesia -- PT ExcelcomindoPratama (Excelcom) has completed the deployment of an Internet Protocol(IP)-enabled signaling endpoint designed to enable it to meet the demands ofa growing subscriber base for mobile data applications. Using the Cisco®(Nasdaq:CSCO - News) IP Transfer Point as a signaling gateway between thetraditional Signaling System 7 (SS7) wireless network and IP-enabledsignaling endpoints, Excelcom is taking advantage of the reliability andcost-efficiency of IP networks while building a foundation forthird-generation (3G) wireless network services.Excelcom, as the third nationwide mobile operator in Indonesia, is bringinga new dimension to the mobile experience of its customers with IP.
