DERRY, N.H. -- Cedar Point Communications, a worldwide leader in integrated Voice over IP (VoIP) switching technologies for communications providers, announced today that John (J.C.) Murphy has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company. He succeeds Curt Hockemeier, who was named Interim CEO in January. Hockemeier will remain on the Company's board of directors.

Murphy joined Cedar Point in October, 2007 as Executive Vice President, Worldwide Sales. He has held senior level sales, operations and engineering management positions at established and start-up companies. He began his business career in sales with ADC Telecommunications and held sales management positions later at Excel Switching Corporation. When Lucent acquired Excel Switching Corporation, Murphy was General Manager of Excel's Open Network Platform Division and later became general manager of Lucent's Softswitch Solutions Division. Subsequently, he served as Excel's President and then President of Cantata Technology, Inc. He joined Cedar Point Communications from Cantata where he was named New England Telecommunications Executive of the Year by Mass High Tech in 2006 for his accomplishments as president.

"After an exhaustive, industry-wide search, we concluded our best candidate is J.C. Murphy, Cedar Point's EVP of Worldwide Sales," said Bruce Sachs, Cedar Point board member and investor. "He brings extensive knowledge of our customer base and the Company's operations. In addition, his ongoing participation in all aspects of the Company's strategy and operations will accelerate the transition period normally associated with a CEO change."
