LAS VEGAS -- Benetel, the wireless design and test company, announced today that it has launched the BTS-114, the first Femtocell mass production test system which can test four femtocell units in parallel enabling OEMs and femtocell manufacturers to double test through-put compared to existing production systems. With Benetel’s unique test strategy, OEM unit test costs can be driven down without compromising on network operator test requirements.

Benetel's BTS-114 femtocell test solution is a flexible hardware and software platform, which enables OEMs and femtocell manufacturers to scale femtocell production from NPI through pilot production and on to full mass production. Benetel is the first company to release femtocell mass production test systems with parallel test capability. The emphasis on through-put maximization reduces production test time by up to 50%, enabling OEMs to perform testing quickly and cost effectively. The test platform utilizes Benetel’s unique high isolation test fixturing which facilitates consistent over the air (OTA) testing in any production environment. The system can be configured for basic functional test, RF calibration, RF test, application code download and final functional test.

“Femtocells are becoming available for a range of cellular standards and are being deployed to improve subscriber QoS and network efficiency. One challenge facing the industry is to meet domestic access point pricing while maintaining the reliability and compliance required of a cellular base-station,” said John Doyle, CEO, Benetel. “By utilising Benetel’s unique test strategy, capital investment in test equipment can be minimised and unit test costs can be driven down without compromising on test specifications.”

BTS-114 is a flexible hardware and software platform which supports CDMA2000, UMTS, HSPA and HSPA+, while LTE and WiMax are on the company’s roadmap.
