Arbinet launches 'mobile on thexchange,' a managed solution for mobile interconnectivity
February 15, 2005
CANNES, France -- Arbinet-thexchange, Inc. [NASDAQ:ARBX], the leading electronic market for trading, routing and settling communications capacity, announced today the launch of mobile on thexchange, the managed solution for mobile interconnectivity, at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France.
Arbinet operates a carrier neutral voice transaction and settlement service, processing nearly 1 billion minutes of off-network fixed and mobile traffic for 340 carriers each month. Arbinet’s mobile on thexchange service addresses mobile operators’ unique off-network challenges, delivering improved call completion and routing visibility, critical for traffic management in the mobile space.
Mobile on thexchange provides a single interconnection for direct routing between network operators for mobile-to-mobile, mobile-to-fixed and fixed-to-mobile calls. Improved call completion and duration generate additional minutes per call, thus more revenue for a provider. This is a simple way for an operator to increase average revenue per user (ARPU).
Charter mobile on thexchange Members include: Telecom Italia, with 10 international subsidiaries in Europe and Latin America; Western Wireless, with 8 international subsidiaries in North and South America, Europe and Africa; and Globacom, the mobile operator in Nigeria.
"Mobile on thexchange gives mobile operators a managed solution for traffic quality,” says Curt Hockemeier, CEO and President, Arbinet. “The service also helps operators reduce working capital and drive additional call minutes to their networks.”
