Mobile 2012 Virtual Tradeshow Preview

This Thursday, June 11, Light Reading and Unstrung will host the Mobile 2012 Virtual Tradeshow, to discuss all things mobile and analyze the wireless market through 2012 and beyond.

From a network technology perspective, this means the transition from 3G to 4G networks, how operators can keep pace with the economics of exploding demand for mobile broadband, and what can be done to accelerate the new wave of mobile Internet services.

The event format could be described as innovative (or unorthodox, if you like). Somewhere between a Webinar and an in-person event, virtual tradeshows are designed for the times, with the pitch that they reduce environmental impact, lower travel costs, and require less time away from the office.

True, you're perhaps less likely to pick up the gossip, or make that serendipitous business contact, in the virtual world. On the other hand, you don't need to wear a suit, and you won't rack up an attention-grabbing expenses claim. When times are tough, why not have the tradeshow come to you?

The platform we're using has all kinds of attractions. Like any good industry show, there are booths to pick up product literature and chat with exhibitors' technical experts. There's a virtual networking lounge where you can meet industry peers and view the latest video content from LRTV. Hang around the virtual bar drinking virtual whiskey long enough, and you may just run into the Light Reading and Unstrung editorial staff – just remember, it's a tradeshow, not Grand Theft Auto.

The core of the event is the full day's conference program, made up of what promise to be four lively and stimulating panel sessions moderated by Heavy Reading analysts:

As everyone knows, it's the attendees that make a show. Help make Light Reading's first ever virtual tradeshow a success by joining us on June 11. We look forward to seeing you there.

I'll be the avatar with the suit on. Come and say hello. Or tweet me on @Gabeuk.
