Mitsubishi Electric's 2.5‑Gbit/s distributed feedback laser diode now offers up to eight wavelengths

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- The Electronic Device Group of Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA, Inc., today announced that it has expanded its cost-effective uncooled ML9XX19 distributed feedback (DFB) laser diode into a family that covers eight wavelengths in the 1470- to 1610-nm range.The expanded capability makes it possible for customers to multiplex several of the 2.5 gigabit per second (Gbps) devices together to achieve data transmission rates as high as 20 Gbps in long-reach CWDM communications. As a result, customers can cost-effectively achieve significantly higher performance for Internet and data communications in metropolitan area networks connected with ADSL and FTTH.Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA Inc.
