ATLANTA -- Micron Optics, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance tunable technologies based on fiber Fabry-Perot tunable filters, today announced its acquisition of Chameleon Optics, a provider of tunable thin-film filters and re-configurable add/drop modules. The combination of both technologies will form a powerful core competency from which to address present and future product applications in telecom and optical sensing. To enable future dynamic optical networks, tunable devices based on different filtering techniques will play critical and complimentary roles. Micron Optics' core fiber Fabry-Perot tunable technology, with its high-resolution and low-loss capability as well as field-proven reliability has provided seminal contributions to the field of optical communication and sensing. The acquisition of Chameleon Optics' technology platform expands Micron Optics tunable technology capability. With this enhanced product offering, Micron Optics has a tunable filter solution for almost any application. The Chameleon-Optics thin-film tunable filters (CTF-TF) can be tuned across multiple optical bands with excellent wavelength setting accuracy, deep adjacent channel rejection and polarization insensitivity. Two-port filters have applications as channel selectors or optical channel monitors, and the Three-port versions can be used in networks as re-configurable add/drop filters. Specific band-pass characteristics are based on the thin-film design and can be engineered to meet many requirements. Micron Optics Inc.
