PRAGUE -- STROM telecom, a member of the SITRONICS group, producer of modern telecommunications equipment, information systems and technologies, announced launching an operation of its technological solution TENNET for Next Generation Networks at a pilot NGN zone of MGTS, Moscow’s largest fixed-line operator servicing over 4.2 million numbers. The pilot zone is the first step in the modernisation project to base the entire MGTS network on Next Generation Network technology.

“The structure of the (MGTS) network modernisation matches the global trend of developing multi-service networks that enables provision of a wide range of services and their fast implementation and has full potential for network resource scalability,” MGTS’s General Director Alexey Goltsov said.

The NGN pilot zone will be deployed in the telephone node in the Preobrazhenskaya district of Moscow to which 1000 new MGTS subscribers will be connected. Functional analysis of this part of the network will enable MGTS to develop an optimal plan for the building of the next generation network by end of the year. The plan will be implemented from 2007 to 2011. A decision about the further use of STROM telecom’s NGN solutions in the MGTS network will be taken on the basis of the pilot results.

It was especially developed for deployment in any existing network environment and to provide maximum operability even during maintenance work and following network modernisation or expansion of switching systems,” Hurem said.
