ALLEN, Texas -- Metro-Optix today announced that the CityStream 5000, a "protocol-agile," multi-layer bandwidth manager designed to enable service providers to carry simultaneously SONET/SDH, ATM and IP traffic on an optical basis, has received NEBS Level 3, Type 3 certification, as specified by Bellcore (now Telcordia) GR-63-CORE, Issue 1 and GR-1089-CORE, Issue 2, Rev. 1. National Technical Systems (NTS) of Plano, Texas conducted the testing.

"We are proud to have met the criteria and passed the testing to receive this certification of durability, quality and safety for our CityStream platform," said Kris Shankar, Chief Technology Officer of Metro-Optix. "Service providers look for the NEBS certification as a sign of commitment to a product line and carrier requirements. Combined with our recent successes in interoperability testing and our growing list of customers, we are gaining the momentum we need to become a force in the metro optical marketplace."
