Metaphors Gone Wild

9:30 AM -- Kathleen Parker blogging for the once-reputable Washington Post, undoubtedly means this in the good sense:

  • If Bill Clinton was our first black president, as Toni Morrison once proclaimed, then Barack Obama may be our first woman president.

An inarguable proposition, really. I might add in the same spirit that, if Harry Truman was our first velociraptor president, then Eisenhower was our first dual-quad intake manifold president.

But the Mistress of Metaphor is not done:

  • Obama is a chatterbox who makes Alan Alda look like Genghis Khan.

Me? I make Vic Damone look like the Comte de Rochambeau.
