YAKUM, Israel -- Metalink (Nasdaq: MTLK), a leading provider of high performance DSL silicon chipsets, announced today that the company's QAM VDSL chipset has been tested at BTExact's labs between June 30-July 2, 2003. These tests included the VDSL Olympics' main mandatory test suite. Metalink chipsets, using a fine-tuned firmware upgrade, improved reach by an average of 18% in comparison to the same tests done at BTExacts's labs on May 19-30, 2003. Metalink's QAM VDSL chipset demonstrated improved performance over all other commercially available VDSL chip-sets.

"These test results once again demonstrate the superiority of Metalink's QAM VDSL technology and prove that Metalink offers a VDSL solution to provide performance results near theoretical limits, and at the same time, realize commercial viability," said Tzvi Shukhman, Chairman and CEO of Metalink. "Metalink's QAM VDSL solution offers telecommunication and networking equipment makers, and telecommunication service providers the most flexible, low-cost, high-performance commercially available VDSL solution in the market today."

"These test results, together with the more than 2.5 million lines deployed worldwide, provide further proof of QAM VDSL's technology excellence," said Christian Wolff, Vice President of Infineon's Communications Business Group and General Manager of the Access Business Unit. "Metalink and Infineon's commitment for interoperability, combined with the performance excellence demonstrated, are key contributors to the further expansion of the VDSL market."

Metalink's chipsets, with more than forty significant design wins across Asia-Pacific, are available in production volumes.
