Somebody had to say it.
And thus begins the Trough of Disappointment.

In my experience, one of the most frustrating things about standards development is that the marketing folks almost inevitably rush the process. All that results is a lot of breakage and disappointment. I can't think of one instance that imposing an unrealistic deadline for getting a standard out has yielded positive results. People never seem to learn.
