Software development issues
It is quite surprising that Ericsson Revenue Manager (launched in 2016) has not generated any revenues. I guess they mean that whatever money they received from Veon, Ooredoo and T-Mobile Czech will be refunded and this forms part of the SEK6.1bn provision.

The admission that demand for a full-stack pre-integrated BSS solution has not materialized reflects the difficulty of implementing such a project. It may be feasible for a greenfield operator (of which there are few) but is like swapping the wheels on a car while driving it for an established operator.

Abandoning ERM will allow Ericsson to focus its software development resources on the traditional, standalone BSS products (billing, charging, mediation, order management). However, Ericsson was suffering from product and feature development delays in ERM so perhaps there are more deep seated problems with Ericsson's BSS software development function which a simple reallocation of resources will not fix.
