Re: Monetization
They can ask me to pay more $ for faster service, but it is not happening.

I am extremely familiar with the 5G-related 3GPP technical specs, and the means by which they are implemented, so I am aware of what the technology is capable of. What is the uptake of carrier-branded specialized mobile services today, especially compared to OTT services? Why should anyone expect that uptake to increase, when the underlying broadband Internet service (which OTT services depend on) will improve?

Carrier ARPU will continue to decline. Any carrier that is basing their 5G business model on squeezing more $$$ from their customers is going to have to explain to their shareholders why that strategy failed in a few years. Maybe they can make a few bucks renting server rack space at the edge to OTT players.

Re: Monetization
Better hang onto for current phone/plan! 5G is all about being able to offer customers (consumer/businesses) with specific targeted services that they get asked to pay for (much easier to do on 5G than 4G). I don't know if you'll be asked to pay for higher download speeds per see. Although it will also be easier for carriers to implement tiered speed lanes with 5G too, so maybe....

Monetization
Sorry, but I already pay as much as I will ever pay for mobile service(s). I don't care if they start offering 100 Gbps to my devices, they are not getting another extra dime.
