Re: Next
I knew things were sluggish, but that sounds terrible. I guess it's good this case is moving a touch faster.

@Michelle: Outside of small-claims and a few other very special circumstances, unsettled litigation takes years. Period. And appeals add months to years. Doesn't matter if it's a minor fender-bender or an employer fighting unemployment benefits or a major Bill of Rights case or an inter-corporate patent war.

That said, the Apple-Samsung patent battle has been progressing at not that slow a pace, considering.

@Joe thanks for the additional info (lawyered!). How long do you think it'll take to get to a final decision? Will it be as painful as watching contestants talk through answers on Who Wants to be a Millionare - or worse?

Re: Next
@Michelle: It's a District Court ruling, so it is appealable if they can find grounds for appeal.

That said, the award, as I recall, is pursuant to the Supreme Court kicking it back down on remand with a directive to adjust the award to reflect the proportion of infringement Samsung's devices represent.

That said, Samsung may take issue with the formula the District Court used to come up with this. It may go all the way back up to SCOTUS. Time will tell.

Never-ending appeals? This should be fun. Acutally, I did have fun reading daily live tweets from a tech reporter covering the trial. It was by far the best coverage online.

Yes, Samsung's expected appeal mean this is faaaaar from over. If Samsung wins on appeal, Apple will appeal.

What else would Samsung do after the verdict? What are the other options available?
