Re: CenturyLink is a slow moving lethargic company Two large companies merger creates redundant positions that must be addressed to remain competitive....this is the common theme...But in reality, there are redundancies everywhere even after the merger due to internal politics, backstabbing, who you know etc. Within a year, you will see another massive cut with the CEO once again giving a sermon that we neeed to stay nimble to be competetive...blah blah blah. This cycle keeps going for few more years [15+ years in case of HP, even after HP was broken in 2 companies, Meg at HPE was still giving the same excuse] until the CEO realizes its time to spend with family [well, this is the official line]. Onto next CEO, next merger, next round of cuts.....repeat!!!
Re: CenturyLink is a slow moving lethargic company The CWA and the union members may have a good point, in noting the politics and irony involved in dismissing so many employees after the tax act and while more mergers will most likely be taking place in coming months. "The combination of two large companies creates redundant positions that must be addressed to remain competitive," says the industry as more mergers likely are planned is going to be disturbing to current employees for sure.
CenturyLink is a slow moving lethargic company CenturyLink is a slow moving lethargic company who will not accomplish anything. They can cut as much jobs they want, they should cut levels of hierarchy they have. There is no focus on anything.
