Re: MAGA
I will acknowledge that economy and market are rolling. But are we borrowig too much from the future. There is a legitimate argument that some of the Reagan tax breaks -- as well as later Dem pushes for more home ownernership -- were responsible for the Great Recession.

Re: This could work...
There is no doubt taxpayers will foot the bill. The big question will be if the winning location gives away more than it will receive in benefits -- the gray area being ancillary benefits to the community -- support jobs not directly tied to Amazon. These jobs likely to increase, but how much? Also, will Amazon be held to certain measures, like number of jobs. Look at companies like Carrier that received benefits and cut jobs anyway.

And most likely the area taxpaymers will be subsidizing the plant through incentive packages and tax abatement to bring Apple to the location. While there may be benefits in the long run if the plant grows, usually it's a trade off or loss to the locals in the end.

As long as as little as possible is given to the undeserving poor, it's all good.

"Incentives" meaning something along the lines of massive corporate welfare?

MAGA
It is absolutely shocking how fast Trump's policies have turned our economy around.  We are about to have our first full year of 3% GDP growth in over a decade, and it has only just begun.

Re: This could work...
That's a lot of toxic sarcasm building up in one post. Maybe the exemptions to state environmental regs and relative weakness of unions were factors, but looks like the $3-4b package of incentives was the biggest driver of the deal.

How does a plant that makes LCD displays suddenly become an assembly location for a phone?
