This partnership would seem to make sense for both of course. Moving along the hybrid cloud seems to be the way to go noting that "the partnership gives enterprises a way to migrate to the cloud in stages," and make a much smoother transitions without presumably too much chaos along the way.

I saw the WSJ report on the announcement. It referenced Cisco Chief Executive Chuck Robbins: "Mr. Robbins is counting on new cloud services to help turn around Cisco by moving further away from its legacy hardware. Cisco's customers are increasingly using cloud services instead of investing in hardware for their own data centers."
